After some careless play in the Kyoto Sanga F.C. defense, Felix Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bayan Bonzon. The Kyoto Sanga F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bayan Bonzon should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bayan Bonzon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clarence Pumaren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clarence Pumaren in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bayan Bonzon having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Archie Balabagan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bayan Bonzon made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bayan Bonzon having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s goalkeeper Bayan Bonzon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 80th minute after Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Bayan Bonzon despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
