Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Ekelund in the 9th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute of play forced MZetowe Mastodonty's goalkeeper Hudson de Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hudson de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 12th minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Ekelund, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Roch Haszczak might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roch Haszczak ran back to his position shaking his head. Agustín Saelices recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 31st minute of the game Primitivo Andino made a throw-in which Felix Montenegro played forward. Hudson de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 33rd minute of play. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 34th minute, when Roch Haszczak scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when Sebastian Ekelund made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of MZetowe Mastodonty booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Roch Haszczak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute Sebastian Ekelund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Sebastian Ekelund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Sebastian Ekelund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristian Sancho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hudson de Carvalho. That made the score 1-1 in the 96 minute of play. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
