In the 20th minute of the match, Lautaro Puig got a very nice opportunity to score, but Concetto Bani was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amos Walcher in the 69th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvaro Aloisi in the 71st minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alvaro Aloisi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anfilogino Traini got free with Benito Sanz in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Calenzano's Benito Sanz threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alvaro Aloisi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Alan Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When Alan Moruga was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 93 minutes had been played.
