When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mattias Brandt to strike the kick off in the second half. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandro Vander in the 51st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Mattias Brandt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Seco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ludwig Jetzek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
