Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Milagros Fraga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jarl Gunnarsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eddie Tinglöf could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. Julian Murillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jarl Gunnarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 18th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calle Målare in the 23rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the game, Peru's Eliseo Mina nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jarl Gunnarsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Jim Lövgren made a throw-in in the 35th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 35th minute of play forced Schmeissen FC's goalkeeper Jarl Gunnarsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Calle Målare came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarl Gunnarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
