An unexpectedly hard shot by Filippo Serra in the 14th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donovan Belli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Espiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Lautaro Navarro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edmundo Espiga was the one to do the kick off. Donovan Belli made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Edmundo Espiga sent off a good shot on target. After 53 played minutes Real Pozzino got a freekick which was hit by Alex Cappucci. Donovan Belli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Villa, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 89 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Cappucci came free, but Lautaro Navarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Filippo Serra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lautaro Navarro was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game.
