Felix Montes lost his temper 45 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 45th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. Oliver Smit placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The The Maquis players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Niels Rooy to strike the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by The Maquis's Niels Rooy. But to his dismay, Niels Rooy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. 67 minutes into the match, The Maquis's goalkeeper Walther Jano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. The Maquis's Walther Jano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save The Maquis from getting a goal against them. Niels Rooy might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niels Rooy ran back to his position shaking his head. The Maquis's attentive Marco Walregt managed to snatch the ball when Camilo Gisbert made a throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 76th minute of play forced The Maquis's goalkeeper Walther Jano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Maquis's Anthony Mancini got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Walther Jano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The The Maquis players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
