In the 27th minute Mózes Bartha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Camilo Franco hit a great ball. After 40 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Escribano. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mózes Bartha to strike the kick off in the second half. Camilo Covarrubias's late challenge caught a Szombathelyi Haladás's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Covarrubias helped the player get up and apologised. Szombathelyi Haladás's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguay the free kick. When Mózes Bartha came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Szombathelyi Haladás fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mózes Bartha couldn't finish the play. Andor Mester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Gisbert in the 64th minute of play forced Szombathelyi Haladás's goalkeeper Andor Mester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisco Seco struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Andor Mester didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Francisco Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Camilo Franco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andor Mester having to interfere. After 91 played minutes Szombathelyi Haladás got a freekick which was hit by Jakab Szekeres. After 93rd play minutes Maximiliano Escribano shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Andor Mester and just under the crossbar into goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Uruguay had played much better football throughout.
