In the 13th minute Abram Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boruc Plaski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Risca Faca IMT's Paulo Renato Prestes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pedro Manzanares. That made the score 2-1 after 15 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romário Aparecido got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 34 minutes into the game, Colombia's Axel Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Boruc Plaski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Santino Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, Axel Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Boruc Plaski. Risca Faca IMT's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Axel Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abram Sarmiento to make the kick off. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Azevedo in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Renato Prestes in the 56th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Risca Faca IMT booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pascual Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Renato Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Colombia's attentive Kevin Mastache managed to snatch the ball when Romário Aparecido made a throw-in in the 87th minute of the game.
