Salvador Gisbert was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 17th minute of play forced Phoenix Strikers's goalkeeper Ionel Panaitoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Traian Moldovan in the 19th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela's players were relieved. After 37 played minutes Phoenix Strikers got a freekick which was hit by Ovidiu Popescu. Ivan Galtero received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Ivan Galtero slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 39th minute. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivan Galtero's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Olimpiu Mustea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 47 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phoenix Strikers the free kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Phoenix Strikers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Aanuţei didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 54 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Traian Moldovan sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Olimpiu Mustea took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Traian Moldovan hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Phoenix Strikers made a substitution. Horaţiu Dinulescu replaced Mauricio Quentin. Phoenix Strikers made a substitution. Pavel Haaland replaced Ivan Galtero. 69 minutes into the game, Horaţiu Dinulescu threw the ball into play from the sideline. Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 5-0 became the score in the 70th minute when Traian Moldovan elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ionel Panaitoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 74th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Traian Moldovan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Traian Moldovan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horaţiu Dinulescu hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescass short, quick shot in the 84thth minute got Ionel Panaitoiu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a little luck, Phoenix Strikers's Ionel Panaitoiu got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Traian Moldovan in the 90th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Ionel Panaitoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Pavel Haaland came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Phoenix Strikers's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
