A well-hit corner resulted in Jorge Sainz heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After 41 minutes of play, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vitório Goiano was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of FC Barcelona:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Uruguay:s goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Sydney Baiano made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Sydney Baiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sydney Baiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sydney Baiano in the 61st minute of play. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. After a rather tough play, FC Barcelona's Sydney Baiano got a free kick in the 74th minute. In the 75th minute, Francisco Seco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 78 played minutes FC Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Mario Vinciguerra. Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 79th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Vitório Goiano but with some difficulty. With a little luck, FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano got control of the ball when Maximiliano Escribano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vitório Goiano made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Maximiliano Escribano sent off a good shot on target. When Piet Feer fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Barcelona's protests and gave Piet Feer a yellow card for diving instead. Piet Feer kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match.
