Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francisco Seco in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitório Goiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 6 minutes into the game, Sydney Baiano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. Sydney Baiano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Vitório Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Camilo Franco in the 11th minute of play. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Seco in the 13th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 15th minute of play forced FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Vitório Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sydney Baiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Vitório Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd match minute, FC Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elroy Kolb to maneuver through the defense. Vitório Goiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Seco's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After 27 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Carballal. After 28th play minutes Sydney Baiano shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Joaquin Gayoso and just under the crossbar into goal. 32 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Seco came free, but Vitório Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Uruguay booed when FC Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Piet Feer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francis Lehrer made in the 46th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Uruguay's Arturo Carvallo. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francisco Seco in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vitório Goiano saved FC Barcelona from getting behind. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sydney Baiano made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, FC Barcelona's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Francisco Seco fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Uruguay were furious when Kevin Carballal was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 56 minutes into the game, one of Uruguay:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximiliano Escribano got free with Vitório Goiano in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 63rd minute Uruguay were awarded a corner. Jaime Cazalla went to the cornerflag to take it. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sydney Baiano's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório Goiano having to interfere. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Alberto Gisbert hit a great ball. Francisco Seco scored 2-1 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vitório Goiano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 83 minutes into the game, Francisco Seco lined in a short shot 2-2 behind a frustrated Vitório Goiano. After 89 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Cazalla. Ramiro Tróia was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 90th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bruno Beldad during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 93rd minute, Bruno Beldad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uruguay were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
