When Andre Gedsted fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Blues's protests and gave Andre Gedsted a yellow card for diving instead. Mira Bobo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 19th minute of play. Jorge Sainz got a throw-in 24 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Camilo Franco. Mira Bobo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Seco in the 26th minute of the match. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Uruguay from getting a goal against them. Joaquin Gayoso was out of position in the 31 minute of play, and Henning Fjordskov capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Henning Fjordskov really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Thorkild Lindekær sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Maximiliano Escribano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Sainz kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. In the 46th match minute, The Blues was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fillip Horsdam to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henning Fjordskov in the 54th minute of the match. Jorge Sainz made in the 55th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Camilo Franco however managed to control. In the 57th minute, Thorkild Lindekær hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Blues's Mira Bobo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 58th minute of play. In the 61st match minute, The Blues was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thorkild Lindekær to maneuver through the defense. Arturo Carvallo kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. The supporters of Uruguay booed when The Blues was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andre Gedsted didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Francisco Seco kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mira Bobo. That made the score 1-1 in the 72 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Francisco Seco got a free kick in the 77th minute. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henning Fjordskov in the 80th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Uruguay's Bruno Beldad seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Bruno Beldad the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Uruguay protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bruno Beldad had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 87 minutes into the game, one of Uruguay:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. With a little luck, The Blues's Mira Bobo got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 97 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for The Blues! When the match had been going on for 101 minutes, Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Mira Bobo. Uruguay were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
