Taurino Caraballo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Erik Lönn in the 7th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Formentera's Fausto Ronconi seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Fausto Ronconi the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Formentera protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Fausto Ronconi had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 12 minutes into the game, one of Formentera:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Leones FC. Aloisio Munet stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Justo Estefan. 1-0. Justo Estefan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valentin Folle's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Tancredo Erce could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Justo Estefan made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justino Hondo in the 30th minute of play forced Leones FC's goalkeeper Taurino Caraballo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Aloisio Munet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leones FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aloisio Munet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Justo Estefan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 36 minutes into the game, Nicollao Ovies was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leones FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Formentera the free kick. In the 38th minute, Jan-Erik Lönn ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Taurino Caraballo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 44 minutes into the match, Formentera's Jan-Erik Lönn sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Taurino Caraballo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Geronimo Silviano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formentera's supporters rose to their feet, but Geronimo Silviano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Taurino Caraballo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
