The coaching staff of Formentera protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tobias Ponciano had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Formentera made a substitution. Geronimo Lope replaced Geronimo Silviano. In the 14th minute, one of Formentera:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Formentera. Justo Estefan had in the 17thth minute some difficulties stopping Edin Džeko's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Edin Džeko had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Justo Estefan. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Medero Gadea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
