After a defensive mix-up in Sport Maia's zone, Laerte Favoretto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albérico Igrejas came out of the goal and Laerte Favoretto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Albérico Igrejas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jakes Vila, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goal looked a bit too open when Emmerich Hatschek came free, but Remigio Valerón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 9th minute, Lazcano Mendez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute of the match Nuno Teves shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Remigio Valerón showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Remigio Valerón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hilário Malheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Claes Hellgren made in the 21st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Cristian Reyes. With an all-out effort, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Albérico Igrejas threw himself towards the right post 22 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jakes Vila, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Remigio Valerón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emmerich Hatschek in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute Jakes Vila shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albérico Igrejas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Sport Maia's Albérico Igrejas got control of the ball when Jakes Vila tried to sneak it across the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goal looked a bit too open when Hilário Malheiro came free, but Remigio Valerón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO reached it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Remigio Valerón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lavallén Pelon in the 56th minute of play. Lavallén Pelon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remigio Valerón having to interfere. Laerte Favoretto hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Albérico Igrejas came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Jakes Vila. But to his dismay, Jakes Vila quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 70 played minutes Sport Maia got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Trinca. In the 71st match minute, Sport Maia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Trinca to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Sport Maia's Remigio Valerón threw himself towards the right post 74 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Francisco Trinca, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 78 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Remigio Valerón had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hilário Malheiro. Claes Hellgren made in the 80th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Cristian Reyes. 81 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Trinca came free, but Remigio Valerón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Silban Mušica quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Claes Hellgren, made in the 85th minute of the game. Guillermo Rapado might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albérico Igrejas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Guillermo Rapado ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sport Maia's goalkeeper Albérico Igrejas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hilário Malheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Remigio Valerón made a huge save. Albérico Igrejas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Escobar in the 94th minute of play. Guido Escobar took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Albérico Igrejas. Albérico Igrejas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. After 100 minutes, Lavallén Pelon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sport Maia and the ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sport Maia's Lavallén Pelon got a free kick in the 100th minute. Julio Alacuart took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 100th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Albérico Igrejas. Sport Maia's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sport Maia's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO had won, even though Sport Maia had held more of the ball.
