The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ivan Chiuzbaian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciprian Alexe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 9 minutes of play, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Ciprian Alexe made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivan Chiuzbaian was left in no man's land by his defense there! Niculae Şantău fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Chiuzbaian having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Zhao Sen Yang kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nistor Maghiar. That made the score 1-1 in the 15 minute of play. Ivan Chiuzbaian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Shearer in the 18th minute of play. Ivan Chiuzbaian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciprian Alexe in the 25th minute of the match. After 26 played minutes Minerul Baita -MM- got a freekick which was hit by Dan Bogdan. If Zhao Sen Yang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zhao Sen Yang could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Nistor Maghiar made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Felix Ferenț got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th match minute, Minerul Baita -MM- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Bogdan to maneuver through the defense. 31 minutes into the game Olov Ahlbeck kicked a great long shot which passed Nistor Maghiar straight ahead into the goal, Result 2-1. One couldn't see Olov Ahlbeck behind all of his teammates who surrounded to congratulate him. After having played for 34 minutes, Zhao Sen Yang managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Zhao Sen Yang was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Minerul Baita -MM- getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Albino Claude hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the match, Minerul Baita -MM-'s goalkeeper Nistor Maghiar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zhao Sen Yang. In the 38th minute of the match Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- got a corner. Minerul Baita -MM-'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Olov Ahlbeck ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nistor Maghiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zhao Sen Yang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. İlhami Akyazıcı fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nistor Maghiar having to interfere. Ivan Chiuzbaian stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Allan Shearer's shot from short distance in the 48th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zhao Sen Yang to make the kick off. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Ivan Chiuzbaian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Shearer in the 54th minute of play. 55 minutes into the match, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Ivan Chiuzbaian had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ciprian Alexe. Minerul Baita -MM-'s Nistor Maghiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zhao Sen Yang in the 57th minute of play. After some careless play in the Minerul Baita -MM- defense, Zhao Sen Yang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nistor Maghiar. The Minerul Baita -MM- fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nistor Maghiar should have stopped the shot. Minerul Baita -MM- made a substitution. Qiu Wei Ting replaced Allan Shearer. In the 70thth minute of the game Primitivo Grau who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Minerul Baita -MM-'s Nistor Maghiar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Qiu Wei Ting hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Minerul Baita -MM- made a substitution. Cédric Payen replaced Ciprian Alexe. The supporters of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- booed when Minerul Baita -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. After taking down the ball on Minerul Baita -MM-'s corner Qiu Wei Ting fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ivan Chiuzbaian quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Primitivo Grau hit a great ball. After 88 minutes of play, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Primitivo Grau made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nistor Maghiar was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 91st minute Petre Iftode shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nistor Maghiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd match minute, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Jenaro to maneuver through the defense.
