After having played for 11 minutes, Cresitobalo Cortes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UNITED's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cresitobalo Cortes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that UNITED's Jan Oblak managed to reach the ball for a save. Cresitobalo Cortes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cresitobalo Cortes in the 17th minute. UNITED's Jan Oblak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, UNITED's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Jan Oblak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when UNITED was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Károly Kolompár didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cresitobalo Cortes kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Jan Oblak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Jan Oblak in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jan Oblak made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute, Felix Montenegro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jan Oblak. The goal made the score 0-2. In the 70th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Oblak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cresitobalo Cortes in the 79th minute of the match.
