Rowan Jepson took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Juan Rubio's late challenge caught a The Youth Project's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Rubio helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. In the 20th minute, Martyn Featherstone ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. In the 25th minute, Kristopher Sykes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis got a free kick in the 27th minute. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Featherstone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute, Paddy Ackland ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. 35 minutes into the game, Martyn Featherstone cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 43 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Rowan Jepson came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rowan Jepson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-6.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. Benito Sanz had great luck who in the 52ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Alfie Chivers from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Martyn Featherstone kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 57th minute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joe Llyod in the 58th minute of play. Harry Colman struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Youth Project. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martyn Featherstone went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-8 was the resulting score. After 66 minutes, Alfie Chivers made it 0-9 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 70th minute, Harry Colman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-10. Harry Colman took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-11. Rowan Jepson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Harry Colman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. In the 94th minute, The Youth Project's Martyn Featherstone dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-12. When the match was over The Youth Project could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Costa Rica throughout the match.
