In the 6th minute Iurie Avacariței shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Oltul Slatina's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Neil Cassar Overend in the 10th minute. The corner ended in Neil Cassar Overend almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. In the 11th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 14 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when FC Oltul Slatina's Iurie Avacariței fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaudencio Ubarna in the 23rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaudencio Ubarna in the 27th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 32 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. After 40 minutes, Jonathan Venegas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the FC Oltul Slatina players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Iurie Avacariței made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match FC Oltul Slatina got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Neil Cassar Overend ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alex Chicote tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Jonathan Ferrant. After some careless play in the FC Oltul Slatina defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manuel Lovinescu. The FC Oltul Slatina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manuel Lovinescu should have stopped the shot. FC Oltul Slatina's Manuel Lovinescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 62nd minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iurie Avacariței, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 63 minutes into the game, FC Oltul Slatina's Iurie Avacariței nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gelu Coman, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. If Gelu Coman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Oltul Slatina made a substitution. Șerban Tilincă replaced Denis Cângea. FC Oltul Slatina's Manole Vâlcu was substituted for Doru Oprescu. FC Oltul Slatina's Nichifor Bornescu was substituted for Gelu Coman. In the 86th minute, Jonathan Venegas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute of the match 程烨瑜 shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
