Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Christos Vardis sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. After 47 played minutes, MpanTouLis FC's Christos Vardis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MpanTouLis FC reached it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, MpanTouLis FC's Argyris Amanatidis got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 65 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Christos Vardis who took care of the corner kick. In the 71st minute of the match Christos Vardis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thodoris Kefaloukos, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Evlogi Antonov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but MpanTouLis FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
