Djurgårdens IF's Mark Nilsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 4th minute of play. Pankracy Oborski was extremely unlucky when he, in the 9th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The audience was convinced that Pankracy Oborski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Mark Nilsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 21st minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Nilsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mark Nilsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pankracy Oborski, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Djurgårdens IF fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 40th minute. Penalty! In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mark Nilsson. 0-3. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark Nilsson having to interfere. Herman Litmanen kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The Djurgårdens IF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-3.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Börje Fagerberg made a kick off. 50 minutes into the match, Djurgårdens IF's goalkeeper Mark Nilsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Mark Nilsson made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark Nilsson having to interfere. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Mark Nilsson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The crowd rose to their feet as Felix Montenegro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mark Nilsson. That made the score 0-4 in the 65 minute of play. Mark Nilsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 68th minute. Mark Nilsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 70th minute of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 74 minutes into the match, Djurgårdens IF's goalkeeper Mark Nilsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. In the 78th minute, Djurgårdens IF's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 82 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. Djurgårdens IF's Eric Biörkquist was substituted for Alfred Mager. 89 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mark Nilsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after Djurgårdens IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Mark Nilsson in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Djurgårdens IF's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Nilsson came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Djurgårdens IF.
