Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 倪笑建 having to interfere. The supporters of Guangdong Yunliu booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Tafalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. 王笑林 kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 倪笑建 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 27th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Guangdong Yunliu's Dante Lacasa threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from 林邦政, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
