Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Herberto Caiado to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Francisco Infante in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led to Lima Team's Herberto Caiado getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herberto Caiado in the 78th minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Francisco Infante made a huge save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lima Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Palmeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Lima Team booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball.
