Gonzo Maradona was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pascual Carballar hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Gonzo Maradona showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Montenegro in the 22nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Les Tigres's Silvano Ihazintu got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Gonzo Maradona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 46th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Les Tigres made a substitution. Rodolfo Luken replaced Silvano Ihazintu. The wind increased when Ömer-Asaf Güneş made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Colombia booed when Les Tigres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedro Manzanares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benigno Felo kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abram Secada in the 93rd minute of play forced Les Tigres's goalkeeper Gonzo Maradona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Les Tigres's Gonzo Maradona proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Les Tigres from getting a goal against them. For all the effort they put into the match, the Colombia players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Les Tigres.
