Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Pepe Toxeiro made a huge save. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Daniel Zorita sped through Real Club Celta de Vigo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pepe Toxeiro. If Everardo Arias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 85 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Everardo Arias came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Everardo Arias in the 87th minute of play. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pepe Toxeiro firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Real Club Celta de Vigo throughout the match.
