Thomas Sørensen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After 45 played minutes FC Grivata got a freekick which was hit by Zahari Kiratzov. 48 minutes into the match, FC Grivata's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Thomas Sørensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Dino in the 78th minute of the match. After having played for 82 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 84th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thomas Sørensen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Daniel Zorita in the 87thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Thomas Sørensen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 93 minutes into the match, FC Grivata's goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Grivata throughout the match.
