In the 31st minute of the game Leif Håkansson made a throw-in which Boyko Koynov played forward. In the 36th minute, Joel Gaona made a precise shot to the right of Lyuboslav Fudulov. Victory FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Thanks to some nice moves Tomislav Batakliev could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Dante Lacasa however easily saved by the left post. Victory FC were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ivo Hadzhipetkov took the corner. Luca Zorita struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Lyuboslav Fudulov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Victory FC's Velko Damov was substituted for Svetlan Legomanov. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
