The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Olympique Salonais's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Raymond Foubert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of Olympique Salonais booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Raymond Foubert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 24th minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raymond Foubert was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. With his leg Thiago Pliego managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Olympique Salonais's Zheng Liang Song fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 28th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raymond Foubert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Olympique Salonais defense, Orlando Casaus kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raymond Foubert. After a defensive mix-up in Olympique Salonais's zone, Orlando Casaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raymond Foubert came out of the goal and Orlando Casaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raymond Foubert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Casaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mariano Lacasa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Raymond Foubert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raymond Foubert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hector Etxepare was the one to do the kick off. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Song Peng Xi in the 52nd minute of play. Raymond Foubert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 59th minute of the match. Orlando Casaus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raymond Foubert having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Hilario Chale came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
