The audience was convinced that Gaspar Calisto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. 13 minutes into the match, Днепр ФК's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Vladislav Maksimychev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Facundo Cadaval fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mexico's protests and gave Facundo Cadaval a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Днепр ФК's zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladislav Maksimychev came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Mexico booed when Днепр ФК was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michal Pazdan didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaspar Calisto in the 54th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dmitriy Bogaenko in the 68th minute of play. In the 70thth minute of the game Dmitriy Bogaenko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lautaro Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 74th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Vladislav Maksimychev could save by the left post. After some careless play in the Днепр ФК defense, Lautaro Mancebo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vladislav Maksimychev. The Днепр ФК fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vladislav Maksimychev should have stopped the shot. Vladislav Maksimychev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 78th minute. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Facundo Cadaval hit a great ball. The supporters of Mexico booed when Днепр ФК was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ralf Rapp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 95 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vladislav Maksimychev. Lautaro Mancebo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3.
