Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Cugat Paredes made the kick off and thus started the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Stenquist having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cugat Paredes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cugat Paredes in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 12th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roger Stenquist read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Roger Stenquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 19th minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Roger Stenquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger Stenquist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egun Castan in the 26th minute of the match. Egun Castan struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EIBARPOOL. Roger Stenquist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Roger Stenquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 35th minute by Daniel Zorita got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 37th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Stenquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 minutes EIBARPOOL's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Felix Montes heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a defensive mix-up in EIBARPOOL's zone, Agustín Saelices stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Stenquist came out of the goal and Agustín Saelices tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Egun Castan in the 47th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

EIBARPOOL made a substitution. Ireno Benedicto replaced Txema Saavedra. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cugat Paredes. Roger Stenquist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 59th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. EIBARPOOL's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Roger Stenquist despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cugat Paredes in the 67th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marin Manafu in the 69th minute of the match. In the 70th match minute, EIBARPOOL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantino Ponte to maneuver through the defense. Roger Stenquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 72nd minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Cugat Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 74th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 75th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Stenquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. EIBARPOOL's Roger Stenquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 77th minute of play. When Firme Muro fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EIBARPOOL's protests and gave Firme Muro a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when EIBARPOOL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Firme Muro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cugat Paredes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 82ndth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Cugat Paredes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Julio Vera 91 minutes into the match.
