Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Coriano FC. The crowd rose to their feet as Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dino Cara. That made the score 2-0 after 20 minutes of play. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dino Cara having to interfere. In the 33rd minute of the match Coriano FC got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Camillo De Francesco ran over to the corner to take the kick. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by Costa Rica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Camillo De Francesco was slow to take the kick. During this time Coriano FC's players had a chance to rest. Emanuele Boccanera was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Hugo Ferrant made in the 37th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Coriano FC's Alberigo Cericola. When Coriano FC's Christian Vieri in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. In the 43rd minute, Eliseo Noboa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 46 minutes in the game Efrain Moruga did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Aaron Alcocer. In the 46th minute, Hugo Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by Coriano FC's Christian Vieri. But to his dismay, Christian Vieri quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Christian Vieri stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Coriano FC's attentive Camillo De Francesco managed to snatch the ball when Efrain Moruga made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. When Alexander Carballo fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alexander Carballo a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Costa Rica fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! In the 59th minute there was a penalty for Coriano FC. Camillo De Francesco stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benito Sanz. 2-2. Donato Tullo might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Donato Tullo ran back to his position shaking his head. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Vieri in the 66th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Axel Tasis in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dino Cara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 79th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dino Cara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 82 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dino Cara made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Donato Tullo kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Puig was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dino Cara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donato Tullo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 100th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. The Costa Rica support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
