In the 28th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hubert Ahlfors saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the game, Mariusz Niemoj was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SteffosPojkar FF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hubert Ahlfors read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Carl Di Canio's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Hubert Ahlfors showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 60th minute of the match. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximilian Seemayer in the 64th minute of play. SteffosPojkar FF's Hubert Ahlfors proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save SteffosPojkar FF from getting a goal against them. Mariusz Niemoj kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match.
