Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Umberto Peres, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 14 minutes into the game, Goiás Esporte Clube's Marcus Diniz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcus Diniz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Dong Xuan Xi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goiás Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Dong Xuan Xi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Umberto Peres came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Natanael Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Tomas Illescas made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that Goiás Esporte Clube's Natanael Paraense managed to reach the ball for a save. Dênis Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Peres in the 35th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Goiás Esporte Clube's Marcus Diniz. But to his dismay, Marcus Diniz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 41 minutes, Marcus Diniz made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Patricio Costa's late challenge caught a Goiás Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patricio Costa helped the player get up and apologised. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.
The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's attentive Jose Correa managed to snatch the ball when Dong Xuan Xi made a throw-in in the 53rd minute of the game. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Diniz in the 57th minute of play. After 58 minutes of play Venezuela's Patricio Costa was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Diniz came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 61 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Valdir Neves was slow to take the kick. During this time Goiás Esporte Clube's players had a chance to rest. Goiás Esporte Clube's Valdir Neves was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Diniz in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 65th minute, Marcus Diniz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Diniz in the 67th minute of the match. After having played for 73 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Marcus Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dong Xuan Xi made in the 77th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Valdir Neves immediately put the ball in play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Diniz in the 78th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 78 minutes into the game, Marcus Diniz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Goiás Esporte Clube's Natanael Paraense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Goiás Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them.
