Ulises Steven didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Semi Acartürk in the 5th minute of play. 5 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Semi Acartürk came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robertinho Carabajal in the 10th minute of play. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute of the match, Semi Acartürk tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Lacasa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ulises Steven showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joseph Smits in the 23rd minute. Alberto Tafalla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulises Steven read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robertinho Carabajal in the 29th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 31st minute of play forced AFC Koolkerke's goalkeeper Ulises Steven to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the match, AFC Koolkerke's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Ulises Steven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Semi Acartürk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 41 played minutes AFC Koolkerke got a freekick which was hit by Christer Sunde. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Facundo Cadaval shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Steven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Ulises Steven in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute Semi Acartürk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ulises Steven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 79th minute of play. If Facundo Cadaval had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 93 minutes into the match, Joseph Smits notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
