After having played for 15 minutes, Jose Correa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jose Correa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Walmir Mangueira kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chester Bennington the free kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. In the 22nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nilton Sena saved Chester Bennington from getting behind. In the 35th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st match minute, Chester Bennington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Mineiro to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nestor Vinhas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 44 minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luiz Fábio Tepedino made a kick off. Nestor Vinhas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. In the 53rd minute, João Mineiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 63 minutes into the match, Chester Bennington's goalkeeper Nilton Sena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. Walmir Mangueira kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After 71 played minutes, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nilton Sena came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Venezuela reached it. Nilton Sena came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas. But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Chester Bennington's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilton Sena came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 80th minute, Patricio Costa fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Illescas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nilton Sena. That made the score 1-3 in the 81 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 84th minute. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Vinhas in the 88th minute of play. Nestor Vinhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Venezuela walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
