An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrick Garcia in the 7th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Panama booed when Chester Bennington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Panama's Tomas Berganza got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 14 minutes, Geovânio Tróia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chester Bennington and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Panama booed when Chester Bennington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovânio Tróia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Isidoro Sarmiento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilton Sena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 20 minutes into the match, Geovânio Tróia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Garcia in the 24th minute of play. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo Veiga in the 32nd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alex Cambeiro during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alex Cambeiro hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute Miguel Miralles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilton Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Chester Bennington's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. 95 minutes into the match, Chester Bennington's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Miralles came free, but Nilton Sena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Panama had played much better football throughout.
