After a rather tough play, Goiás Esporte Clube's Umberto Peres got a free kick in the 10th minute. Natanael Paraense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 12th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. In the 26th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Natanael Paraense was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 40 minutes into the game, Umberto Peres cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 44thth minute of the game Marcus Diniz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Oswaldo Figueiredo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Umberto Peres had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Umberto Peres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcus Diniz was the one to do the kick off. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 60 minutes of play, Goiás Esporte Clube's Marcus Diniz made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Peres in the 64th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Valdir Neves was slow to take the kick. During this time Goiás Esporte Clube's players had a chance to rest. Goiás Esporte Clube's Valdir Neves was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Umberto Peres came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Goiás Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Umberto Peres couldn't finish the play. Natanael Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. 81 minutes in the game, Marcus Diniz fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Umberto Peres in the 84th minute of play. Natanael Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Natanael Paraense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle went the supporters of Goiás Esporte Clube were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Ecuador side.
