Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graeme Tinker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute Dakar Olympique were awarded a corner. Geoff Vassell went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Graeme Tinker managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vágner de Lara having to make a save. Vágner de Lara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 30th minute. The supporters of Dakar Olympique booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gaos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute of the game Joseph Clifford made a throw-in which Lee Hislop played forward. In the 45th minute Graeme Tinker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kris Upson to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Kris Upson notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 72nd minute of play forced Dakar Olympique's goalkeeper Vágner de Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Kris Upson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 91stth minute, Jonathan Ferrant skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 93rd minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vágner de Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kris Upson in the 94th minute of play. Dakar Olympique's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
