Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute. Luis Andino was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After some careless play in the Corte di Camasco defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dennis Sansoni. The Corte di Camasco fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dennis Sansoni should have stopped the shot. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Dennis Sansoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dennis Sansoni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Dennis Sansoni didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Dennis Sansoni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. In the 55th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Sansoni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dennis Sansoni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corte di Camasco's goalkeeper Dennis Sansoni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
