The supporters of FataMorgana booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sainz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 44 played minutes FataMorgana got a freekick which was hit by Davide Causio. 46 minutes into the game, Davide Causio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FataMorgana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguay the free kick. In the 45th minute, one of FataMorgana:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FataMorgana.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francisco Seco to make the kick off. Attilio Proia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 55th minute. Uruguays' Attilio Proia just managed to throw himself towards the right post in the 60thth minute after Jaime Cazallas penalty, and stop a certain goal. FataMorgana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ciccio Negrini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
