The audience thought a goal was coming when Cassius Byrne got free with Marta Pressley in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marta Pressley made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Cassius Byrne sent off a good shot on target. 74 minutes into the match, USA's Monty Rogers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marta Pressley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marta Pressley stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Monty Rogers's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. USA made a substitution. Marco Baker replaced Edward Mcdonald.
