The coaching staff of Panama protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Felipe Ros had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After having played for 65 minutes, Nereo Rocendo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Rompelomo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nereo Rocendo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franc Armani stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Isidoro Sarmiento's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. C. A. Rompelomo's Franc Armani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 94th minute of play. The Panama manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing C. A. Rompelomo to win.
