After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Noboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Cauchi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Costa Rica's Axel Tasis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tommy Cauchi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Fredrik Hylander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Nigel Petroni kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emanuel Avellino in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 26 minutes, Emanuel Avellino made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emanuel Avellino went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Fabian Testaferrata Abela took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. In the 38th minute Fabian Testaferrata Abela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Victoria booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 43 minutes of play, Victoria's Fredrik Hylander made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Avellino in the 60th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabian Testaferrata Abela got free with Benito Sanz in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Emanuel Avellino showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 64 minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Victoria's Emanuel Avellino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benito Sanz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Emanuel Avellino struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Victoria. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fredrik Hylander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute, Emanuel Avellino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Emanuel Avellino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Juan Rubio lost his temper 89 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee gave Victoria a penalty, 90 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Stephan Blanco, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. 0-8. In the 98th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Victoria were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
