Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Kajetan Zagrobelny showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 28th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kajetan Zagrobelny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Germán Cano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! 34 minutes into the match, Bajbusy Fabian-a's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Kajetan Zagrobelny reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Bajbusy Fabian-a were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
