Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Lorencio Atienza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lorencio Atienza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lorencio Atienza having to interfere. Lorencio Atienza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Flores in the 32nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Lorencio Atienza made a huge save. 69 minutes into the match, Jose Solorzano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jose Solorzano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Mariachi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Ayala didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 80th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Lorencio Atienza could save by the left post. 85 minutes into the match, Mariachi FC's goalkeeper Lorencio Atienza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. With a little luck, Mariachi FC's Lorencio Atienza got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Mariachi FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
