Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Fuerzas Armadas's Eufrasio Aranzubia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Eufrasio Aranzubia capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oro Montes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Mateo Bastida kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The supporters of Fuerzas Armadas booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Fuerzas Armadas's Elvio Rivas got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oro Montes having to interfere. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. In the 59th match minute, Fuerzas Armadas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateo Bastida to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Oro Montes threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Felix Montenegro this time. In the 61st minute, Gustavo Buendia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Felix Montenegro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Mateo Bastida kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Oro Montes. Fuerzas Armadas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gaizkine Armada hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oro Montes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Fuerzas Armadas were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
