Vito Abasalo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vito Abasalo having to make a save. 16 minutes into the match, Trecebarras's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Vito Abasalo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vito Abasalo. Vito Abasalo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 24th minute Caitano Aguilar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito Abasalo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vito Abasalo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd match minute, Trecebarras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osoro Erosa to maneuver through the defense. Vito Abasalo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho scored 0-2 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vito Abasalo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 51st minute Xamin Salazar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 69th minute of play forced Trecebarras's goalkeeper Vito Abasalo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felix Montenegro was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Xamin Salazar came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Trecebarras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xamin Salazar couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vito Abasalo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Trecebarras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xamin Salazar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caitano Aguilar in the 94th minute of the match. 96 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
