After having played for 23 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When Patricio Costa fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Patricio Costa a yellow card for diving instead. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 范邦天 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 72nd minute of the match. 范邦天 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 80th minute. The corner led Venezuela's Tomas Illescas to fire away a dangerous shot which 范邦天 despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Salvador Gisbert in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of 范邦天, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of 江苏扬州我主沉浮联队 booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
