After taking down the ball on SANFINS VLP's corner Claudio Caniggia fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jonathan Ferrant quite easily take care of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck David Prada prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Venezuela booed when SANFINS VLP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basílio Silveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. SANFINS VLP's David Prada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute Zhuang Fan Zhen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, SANFINS VLP's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but David Prada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When SANFINS VLP's Zhuang Fan Zhen in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. Valdemar Setúbal's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdemar Setúbal helped the player get up and apologised. After 21 played minutes SANFINS VLP got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar Setúbal. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Claudio Caniggia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Patricio Costa scored 1-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of David Prada, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zhuang Fan Zhen, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of SANFINS VLP booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zhuang Fan Zhen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In a very dangerous position, a player in SANFINS VLP fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 51st minute. Penalty! After 54 played minutes SANFINS VLP got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Viana. David Prada showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 56th minute of the match. With his leg David Prada managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Caniggia in the 59th minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, SANFINS VLP's goalkeeper David Prada had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. In the 70th minute Zhuang Fan Zhen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Caniggia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st match minute, SANFINS VLP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zhuang Fan Zhen to maneuver through the defense. If Eduardo Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind SANFINS VLP's goalkeeper David Prada, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. David Prada made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 90th minute. A hard shot 98 in the game by Tomas Illescas from a close distance when the talented David Prada managed to make a qualified save. SANFINS VLP's players were relieved.
